What Would You Have Done

If you saw a premium box of cigars obviously priced wrong.

I didn't see an option for "Don't post anything about it and sell for MSRP on CP". Or is that just me?

As in everything John, I would blame Robbie. Great find and enjoy them!

What your missing here is you didn't ask them to order more for you to buy at $78

Nice score. Sounds like you did everything you could to make sure the advertised price was correct.

Voted for blame robbie obv. You did fine though, you can't MAKE them charge you more money

Oh I also would sell a fiver to my friend Phil at cost, if that helps.

Handled perfectly. You were honest, told them they seemd too inexpensive, they said "nope, right price" and you bought. They couldn't "give them away" so you did them a favor....;-)

On a smaller scale, a few years back I went to a local store to buy some cheap .22 ammo to plnk with my kids. Anyway, I brought a brick (500 round - ten 50 round boxes) up to the counter and the gal rang up the brick at the 50 round box price. I told her "...I'm sure that's wrong...". She called a manager that scanned it and said "...no, they are on sale, that's the price...". I objected again, told them that I was sure the brick was being rung up at the 50 round price....which pissed them both off. They gave me the "....look, do you want them or not...." to which I said, "....sure, I'll actually take ten at that price....". I have boxes of that ammo to this day....guilt free.... :p

Nice play!

You did the right thing. They were having a hard time selling them and as someone mentioned, it was the previous owners stock. Win - win for everyone .

I've had something like that happen before in Vegas. My sister and myself went down to Freemont Street, I parked in the garage at Golden Nugget. And we walked down the stairs to the casino, the moment we hint the bottom there was a cigar shop making hand rolls to attract customers. I decided what the hell and stepped inside and talked to the owner and "head" roller. His wife rolled me up a couple custom sticks while we talked, I mentioned I smoke a lot of Illusione, at which point he said he had had a few and weren't impressed and that he happened to have a full box of Illusiones in his humidor he couldn't sell, I told him I'd take them off his hands and he said $100 and they are mine. I couldn't refuse and he brought out a box of M7s, I was like a fat kid in a candy store, but I told him I couldn't pay $100 for them. He told me if I gave him a hundred he would give me his hand rolls for free. I told him that was too cheap, he insisted he didn't want the cigars anymore.

Got a 7 year old box of discontinued Illusiones I had been looking for, for year for $100 plus a couple of goodies.

They're the cigar store owners. The professionals.

You ask if it was correct and they confirmed.

No issue.

<note - the previous owner sold out and got his money, the new ones probably sold stock and are making money>

Also - addy in profile! :D

Well done John, handled like a true gentleman and your honesty payed off.

I will echo what most have said... you asked about it to the person working there, who even checked with someone else to verify. You did the right thing, and got lucky.

Congrats on the great score! :)

I don't understand people wanting to pay more for things when they don't have to. What does informing someone of a great deal have anything to do with honesty?

Good for you. Especailly if you have been looking for these smokes for so long.

Have fun.

If they want to sell it fir $78, then that's their choice. Confirming the price (twice) makes your hands clean. Your only mistake was int asking if they had more that you could 'help' take off their hands.

More importantly...where's this store and what else did they have in stock? :whistling:

Nice score!
Are they going in the yard gar stash because they're so cheap? :)

You took reasonable steps to give them a chance to adjust the price. You're good to go. Now sell me a fiver!
