The guy is asking $200 and it comes with two working Cigar Oasis XL units which retail for more than that alone. The guy says it holds humidity perfectly. Not currently running, hence the 58% reading.

It matches no other furniture in my house, I have nowhere to put it and I'm sure to get a rash of shite from the Warden.

Seems like a no brainer at that price..!!

Funny aside, my wife actually asked me once; "don't you need a bigger humidor..??.." I looked at my Staebell, jammed wall to wall in every nook and cranny, and said "...no, I'm good..". Available space limits my cigar crazy, so I think things are in equilibrium now..... 😁

Sounds like a great price. Like @CBoukal said, I'd stain it another color, like cherry, mahogany or something like that.

Abso-fuckin-lutely!

Paint it pink and mint green, show it to your wife, wait two weeks, tell her you have something important to tell her. She will just be happy you aren't coming out of a closet. :)

Some of the smarter guys might have some insight to this, but sure would like to see that Spanish cedar. Think you did it right.
Thanks. The guy was very understanding.

I mean it was almost worth it for the two Cigar Oasis units alone, but I really didn't love the style. If I'm going to do a cabinet conversion, I want it to be in the style that I (and the Warden) like.

Plot twist. The interior is lined with Lauan wood (Philippine Mahogany).

Everything I read says this is bad juju. I think this is a deal breaker.
I've always thought luaan was a close relative to Spanish cedar. I used luaan as shelves in my old wineador.

I dont think functionally it matters other than decreasing the value so to speak.

Id say its not my color and Id have to refinish it and it doesnt have Spanish cedar inside so Id like to offer x for it. Wood on the inside matters almost nothing unless you store sticks loose out of the box imho. Wood boxes and trays do all the lifting.

To be honest you would have way over that price in coolers for that capacity so I say buy and make it work.

How does the humidification work w the drawers since they aren't behind the door iirc?

HT

I think it's worth offering him $100 and see what he says. Both luan and spanish cedar, are in the mahogany family.

I did ask AI, just to see if I remembered correctly:

Yes, Luan (often called Philippine mahogany) can be substituted for Spanish cedar. Because Spanish cedar is a species of mahogany, Luan shares many of the same moisture-buffering and woodworking properties. However, it lacks the signature cedar aroma and mold-resisting traits.
