Newbie Pass 101

Yup, PM'd with Mr. Anderson and am eagerly awaiting the pass to arrive. I also PM'd KidMontana before he bailed and asked him what date would be best for him to receive the pass. He thought it would ideal if it landed on December 31st. Not sure what the status of the USPS is after Christmas. Is it less traffic/volume and stuff goes on time versus pre-Christmas when there are delays? Another suggestion would be that I could send it to Thumper. He and KidMontana look like they are close to one another on the map.

*edit: Spelling.

Yes Kid and I are located close. I will be out of town for Christmas as well. I could recieve the pass on the 27th if we want to go that way.

Am I missing something??? ???

I sent the pass to Gern Blansten. He's the next one on the list and confirmed that he was good to receive the pass. It's Kid Montana that isn't ready to receive the pass until after the 30th.

No, lol. I should've looked at the pass order in post one before opening my mouth. I just assumed without looking. Holidays seem to really be getting to me this year.

My bad man.

I am working on my P/T list and it's almost done but I had a question that I'd like to throw out to the group.

Curious on what info any of you have on the Opus X Pussycat? MSRP? Rarity? Did some Google-Fu and came up with a few reviews but no pricing, looked at vitolas.net and only found a picture and lastly sent Moki a PM but he has not been on to respond.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You have covered all the bases I would have checked.... "StogieReview" had it MSRP at $8.75 which seems a little low but thats what I am reading on other forums people spending on that stick.... Hope this helps?

Just saw that AtlanticCigars had them marked at $13.35....

Pussycats aren't that expensive, MSRP wise. They are similar to the love stories in that regard. Though unlike the love stories, I don't see them often...so I'm not sure as to production quantity. I'll see what I can come up with.

I'm not sure of the MSRP either, however I bought a few of these from a brother here several months ago. The sticker price he paid for each of them nearly three years ago was $11.00 though I don't think the price has changed much on these.

My bad man.
No problem.

I did everything I could think of to make sure everything was set and ready to go. I probably checked the shipping address four times before I dropped it off to make sure I had it right. So when I saw your post I had a feeling of dread that I had screwed something up.

Okay lets give this a try for P/T's:

T: #20 Padilla Series ’68 Robusto ($4.80)
P: #56 Oliva Serie V #4 ($4.81)

T: #30 La Riqueza #3 ($7.80)
P: #57 Illusione 88 ($7.80)

T: #40 Illusione Epernay L Alpinste ($11.41 This is an average of all info i could find. Only one firm price was from Serious at $10.44)
P: #58 FFOX Perfecxion X 2009 ($13.00)

T: #43 Tatuaje Black PL 2nd Release ($7.65)
P: #59 AF Anejo #46 ($8.25)

T: #49 Padron 1964 Exclusivo ($10.77 I took Tower out of the mix because their price was WAY too low compared to the others)
P: #60 AF Anejo #55 ($10.75)

As I was typing this my wife brought the pass down from the mail guy. Other than it being pretty cold and a little condensation in in bottom, all is well.

Please let me know your thoughts on these as some were hard to figure out.

Looks like you did your homework. The overpit is a little big for this pass, but up to Jake ultimately. Enjoy that Epernay it is fabulous.

Okay lets give this a try for P/T's:

T: #20 Padilla Series ’68 Robusto ($4.80) $4.90 average (Serious, Cigars International) Not sure if CI would count or not though... $4.80 if only Serious is used.
P: #56 Oliva Serie V #4 ($4.81) $4.78 average (Serious, SmokeInn, Uptown)

T: #49 Padron 1964 Exclusivo ($10.77 I took Tower out of the mix because their price was WAY too low compared to the others) 10.85 average (Serious, SmokeInn, Holts, Uptown)
P: #60 AF Anejo #55 ($10.75)

These would be the only ones that I would question.

My research shows the following prices. See above (in bold) for my comments. My pricing might just be off, if so let me know...

ETA - Not sure the $0.02 and $0.10 under puts are really an issue or not. I personally don't see an issue with the P/T just thinking out loud.

They are good. I'm not worried about the over-put on the opus because the opus that were in the pass went extremely quickly, so I'm sure there won't be a problem there...unless a bunch of participants strenuously object.

When comparing the other prices (using the same vendors to compare for both cigars) the prices are pretty spot on, nicely done on the homework. Even still...I'm not going to cause a fuss over being within $.10, but when we start talking in the area of $.25+, we'll have some issues there. Also the rarity on the Anejo 55 makes up for the small price difference there.

It might be good to wait and ship until AFTER christmas, like tuesday of next week probably. We don't want it getting held up more than necessary with the last minute holiday scherades with the Post Office.

As the math teachers used to say, "show your work!"

For the Padilla I used only Serious because I wasn't sure if CI counted. The Oliva V I used: Smoke Inn ($4.87), Serious ($4.60), Uptown ($4.87) and Jack Schwartz ($4.88).

For the Padron I went with: Serious ($10.90), Holts ($11.00), Smoke Inn ($10.60), Uptown ($10.90) and Jack Schwartz ($10.44).

I looked at Tower because Jake mentioned it and others have referenced it in passes. I nixed their pricing on the Padron ($9.81) because it was so out of line with five other vendors and would have dropped the average significantly.

Love the discussion. This was much harder than I expected. Please let me know if I need to revisit any of these. It's never a bummer to go look in the humi. :)

Agreed, I have an outstanding package that's gone missing with USPS that fits this bill. Went missing on the 18th, they don't have clue where its at. Letting ours rest a couple of days couldn't hurt.

Agreed!

If I am to send it to KidMontana, I'll probably need to hold off until the 29th to have it land on the 31st (according to the USPS). That's the date he said would be ideal for him. Thumper is also a viable option, but not without the green light from you.

Jake, this is not a biggie but thought I bring it up for sake of accuracy. To make the cigar list in the OP match the paper work flip #42 and #43.

#42 should be the Tat Black PL and #43 The Face.

Sounds good.

We can wait on Kid Montana to come back. 29th works good...or somewhere around there. Give the pass a few days to rest in room temperature and bypass the shipping fiasco going on now.
