It's been a long road

Good to see you Nate!

I've been missing for a time as well. I'm going to do my best to check in here and there - but things are constantly changing and moving on my end.

I had a bout with a pretty bad injury - broke both my tibia and fibula at the ankle. ...and just when I thought I had beaten all of it - momma booked a cruise to Alaska and in the midst I broke the rod in my leg... 16 surgeries over 3 years and I'm pretty much back to "normal" (momma tells me it a "new" normal - it was the best grounding I've ever had).

I completely understand the whole being depressed while going through all of that medical stuff. I was SO blessed to have people around me to make sure I didn't fall off the edge. I just hope you have a good support system as well. It's nothing you can't handle if you can keep your head in the game.

Stay well!

Good to see everyone here , man sorry to hear of your injuries.

Nate, great seeing you on the vherf last night! As you can see, we are a family, having fun, ribbing each other and smoking cigars. Doesn’t get much better than that :)

I also hope you enjoyed the vherf. Typically new guys are quiet for the first 2-3 visits, then they decide if they love the shenanigans or if they are more grown up than that :)

hopefully you stick around and keep dropping in

So , they started adding weight in therapy today, range of motion still isnt quite there ,but it is way better then it has been in a year. So hopefully this means more progression!!

Fingers crossed, brother! Keep up the good work!

I was in a therapy program back in 2006/2007 that had an average duration of 2 1/2 to 3 months; I was in the program for 7 months.
There were at least two therapy sessions when I refused to do what I was directed to do because it was KILLING me; I thought they were literally killing me. It was that brutal. I know PT is no fun but be patient & if you think you need to STOP, then by all means, don't do what they are asking you to do.

My brother was in PT once & they were pushing him really hard. He experienced extreme abdominal pain, went to his doc the next day, and the next day my brother was in emergency surgery.

You have to go with what your body tells you & stay safe, IMO.

I keep a small assortment of light dumbbells and a 10 lb kettlebell out on the table where I smoke/read in the afternoons. I get more quality PT done out there than I do in a doctor's office! I know we've talked about therapy before, and I'm happy to hear your weight limit was upped.

Wow! Can’t believe I’m just noticing this. Glad to hear you are on the upswing hopefully. I’m sure you and I could share some stuff privately that would make you realize you’re no different than anyone else. Thanks for sharing Nate.

Had a follow up with the DR yesterday.
Released to medium duty for 4 weeks then full duty. PT for 6 more weeks (work hardening) whatever that is.

I don't have to go back to the dr anymore!!!

Have a meeting with my ex employer today, I'll see how it goes , would like to find something closer to home, may just have to go back temporarily to get a little normalcy back.

Was looking at jobs on indeed , I haven't filler an application out in 20+ years and don't have a resume. So might have to work on that. Not sure where to even begin. Lol

Did you do any homework on that thing you and I were talking about?

Best news I have heard all week. I'm happy for ya, brother. I wish ya luck in the job search. If you can get a resume on Indeed, folks will hire ya. Quality people/resume's stand out on Indeed. Good luck to ya!
