F'N pine trees. And cedars. Mostly.

It they were hickory tree stumps then we stuff 'em with charcoal and have a proper BBQ !

That sucks……I assume you sharpen your own chains because I would imagine a chain lasting about 15 minutes before it’s throwing dust.

I have some "old" chains for cutting stumps. A little bit of dirt sure works them over - but they sharpen up pretty decent with a file.
A folding shovel works well for digging around the big roots.
