I think all of the likely guesses have been stated already, so I'll go with rescuing a greyhound, even though I think that is likely too politically charged. Whatever they choose, I do hope they go the rescue route--there are so many good dogs out there that need homes.
 
My guess would be a Chocolate Lab if the previous guess of labrador retriever omits this I will go with a Border Collie. No reason in particular it just popped into my head although i agree that the most likely pick will be a rescued mutt.

1st - It was nice to see two BOTL resolve an issue before it got out of hand. :thumbs:

2nd - The dog will be a Sheltie. We have had one for 11 years. It will be a very sad day when Ruby goes to dog heaven.
 
Au contraire, one of Sammy's local "friends" is an Entlebucher Sennenhound (he was chasing Morley when he cut his leg last month). Of course, that's a lesser swiss mountain dog, but who's counting. :)
 
Well, I have two Pembrokes, and that's what the Q has.

I was gonna post Welsh Pembroke, but after the earlier posts, I was afraid using the "Welsh" could result in me being viewed as racist.
