I was reading today the Ulysses S Grant received 10,000 boxes of cigars from grateful citizens during the Civil War after taking Fort Henry and Fort Donelson and forcing the confederacy retreat after the battle of Shiloh. He was known to chain smoke cigars. Of note, he died of throat cancer 21...
A dear friend of mine is looking for this and I would love to pick up a bottle for him. I'm not a huge follower of the bourbon market. Am I looking for a unicorn?
Of note, I tried some Jeffersons Presidential Reserve at a dinner recently. That was very good. However, I have a feeling not...
The World Cup 2014 starts June 12th. I'm trying to see if there is enough interest in doing a pool. If we could get a total of 8 entries, we could do a random draw for groups A-H. You would get 4 teams in your group. We could pay for 1st and 2nd place. As far as stakes, I thought maybe a fiver...
Just got back from a trip to Scotland. It was a joy walking in and seeing walkin humidors full of Cuban cigars. However, the prices were a little rough. A three pack of Monte #2 was 65 pounds - about $110. They had a bunch of regionals that almost got me. However, I decided to spend my cash...
Anyone else have issues with the wrappers on these being very fragile? I tried one today and when I cut it, the top 1/4 of the wrapper fell off. I had the same issue with his La Verite series. Those are the only two I've ever had this problem when I cut them.

I was recently down at Cochon. He had this available by the slice.

I'm headed to Scotland in a couple months. Anything I should look to pick up there. I've heard the prices in the US are cheaper than the prices there. However, there might be some stuff that is not available here that I could pick up while I'm there.
I have gift coming to the midwest. These have taken about 9 days in the past. Shipped 12/13 and no sign as of yet. Anyone else having gifts coming from Europe seeing delays.
So... all of my cigars are fair game on any day. However, I bought two of these when they came out and they have just been sitting in the humidor.
My oldest daughter just had our first grandchild. I'm working in the hospital all night, but tomorrow night the Gran Reserva will "be no more" (in...
This is my favorite time of the year. Sitting on the back patio. Smoking a cigar. Adult beverage. Betting the races. Can't wait. Race 10. To Dubai to start the season off.
Looks fairly wide open this year. I like both Bodemeister and Creative Cause. I have Creative Cause in the future book, so I'll stick with him as my official pick.
Opening day here in Cincinnati. Celebrating the win with a Federal 91 My Father.
My first year playing fantasy baseball. Hard to know how to root when when one of my players is against my home team.
What cigar are you going to break out for the Super Bowl. I'm half thinking of PMM. However, I might hit my singles box and pick something out of there.
I have a couple bets going with New England that I will be sweating.
The Tatuaje 2011 TAA was one of my favorite cigars this year. For those that try a lot of his stuff, which of his available cigars is the closest?
Thanks
Mike
When I finished by back tattoo, my tattooer and I shared a bit of cognac. Never had that before. I came here looking for suggestions and read about Delamain.
Picked up a bottle of Delamain XO. I think it was $80-85. Excellent.
I did a 200 mile relay race this past week in Kentucky. It visited about 7 distillers and had a bourbon tasting at the end.
I've not tried too many different bourbons. I always have a bottle of Makers Mark in the cabinet and usually stick to that. However, I took a shine to the Woodford...
Picked up a box of these today. I already knew I loved the blend and I'm a sucker for the box pressed torpedo.
Might pass the 64 Padron as my go to cigar.
