Serious Question - Getting foot of cigar too wet from lips

Thanks for the feedback! and I've since started slowing down a little and letting the cigar rest and noticed its a little dryer. I think I needed to take my time. I smoke them too damn quick and don't enjoy em' like I should. I'll definitely take your comment into consideration, PJ, maybe when I...

Advice on Cigar Oasis & Hygrometer Readings

I've had my Cigar Oasis for a little over a year now. I've also had the standard round hygrometer that came with my Humidor and a Xikar Digital Hygrometer. Now, here is the issue. My cigars actually don't seem dry. The reading was a little high on the Cigar Oasis (it was at 80) but it always...

    Today's smoke III

Recently tried a CAO Hurricane. Not a bad smoke for the CAO line. I'm pretty big on the Mx2s.

Serious Question - Getting foot of cigar too wet from lips

Yeah. Must just be me. I try to "purse" my lips so the wetness isn't on the cigar, but after smoking, it always happens. Sometimes, i'll keep it in my mouth for a while, other times I'll hold it and take it out (that's what she said :-/ ) I guess it's just a personal thing, I have tried so many...

    Jar Humidor Project

If you're still looking for Spanish cedar, you can look at rockler.com or Google Rockler wood. You can order directly off of their website as small or as large a piece you would like. I ordered a notebook sheet sized piece and it arrived in a few days. You can then cut it and throw it in your...

Serious Question - Getting foot of cigar too wet from lips

You might think I'm nuts (as most people do) but, in all seriousness, I have a question for anyone who might offer their opinions. I've been smoking cigars regularly for about five years. I have never been able to smoke without getting the head (sorry. I put foot first, on accident) completely...

    Online vs B&M purchases

Couldn't agree more. We used to have three local cigar shops in town (I live in the NW Suburbs of Chicago). There are none out here now. It takes me at least 35 minutes to get to a reasonable cigar shop that isn't classified as a cigarette or tobacco store. I tend to purchase online mainly...

Internet Tax, how will it effect cigar purchasing?

In Illinois, I know at a few Cigar shoppes, they impose a 18% tax on all cigars. in July, they are supposed to be increasing it to 36%.

    Thoughts on BnB tobacoo

I used them once last week. The product actually said it arrived and it wasn't there. I emailed them immediately that night I looked and they had a quick rep who emailed me back with no problem and told me they'd ship another one after a 10 day wait (which is standard to allow the product to...

V-Cut, Punch, Guillotine, Scissor Cut? What do you use?

Thanks! I was researching some youtube videos for lighting methods and I noticed how the guy cut his. I WAS cutting them way too far down. Tried it like I saw it, perfect cut!

Cigars or cigar brands to avoid?

I have a bunch of short-filler crap cigars I got for guests haha. I find that if I smoke an occasional cheap, short-filler cigar, it makes me appreciate the taste of the better cigars once I have one. Just my opinion. But I kind of get sick of the latter even when I have one. You can definitely...

V-Cut, Punch, Guillotine, Scissor Cut? What do you use?

What type of cutter do you like best? Which works best with cigars? Guillotine, V-Cut, Punch, Scissor? I currently use a v-cut because I like how the smoke draws out of it, it's a small, quick cut, and it doesn't ruin the cap/head. Some of the cheaper made cigars I have start to fall apart...

What is your favorite cigar shape and why?

I like the torpedos and toros. For me, whenever I smoke them, I never get a bad one. It could just be the way I cut it, though.

Creating "humidor smell" / Using Spanish Cedar to help cigars

I'm pretty sure it isn't, though. It's a very cheap humidor. I mean, you get what you pay for. It's the type you can get on E-bay and I think they take the photo like that just to con people into purchasing their cheap product. I didn't learn about it until after. However, mine isn't that bad...

Creating "humidor smell" / Using Spanish Cedar to help cigars

On the description, it states, "Portions of the humidor are created with spanish cedar", blah, blah and it goes on about how it doesn't need to be completely lined to hold the scent. I will add, it doesn't smell bad. It smells like the cigars and has a nice aroma, but it doesn't have that cedar...

Creating "humidor smell" / Using Spanish Cedar to help cigars

In need of some help, if possible. I researched and cannot find any logical answers. I purchased a 400ct. humidor that has two slots and a front open door and top open door. The windows on the doors are plastic. However, I am using a Cigar Oasis and it is holding humidity pretty well as I have...

Starbuck Verismo, Keurig,or Tassimo? Who has one?

I purchased a Keurig when they came out around 5-7 years ago. Had mine for a good three years and bought another one. I also have a Dolce' Gusto if you have ever tried that. More gourmet style coffeehouse beverages. I still want to try the Verismo. I know two people who have it and they say it's...

    Lighting your smokes

I came across a neat technique from a person called "The Three Match Method". It is also on YouTube. It requires three matches. One to help toast the cigar before cutting the head and the other two matches to light it. Interesting. It took me a few tries to not burn it completely.
