I clearly can see and understand your point of view. In fact I struggled with making this post, and thought about not doing it all together. I am happy with editing or deleting this thread all together to keep with community's overall happiness and not to cause any disruptions here.

That’s what I kind of wondered if you were saying after I thought about it.
Just curious, and just asking, (because I value your opinion). What are your reservations about having this private vs. out in the open. I could see doing it via PM, but what a PIA trying to think of everyone to include that might be willing to help.

Paul, like I said earlier, it had to be hard to make the post. What matters most is that you feel comfortable enough with the guys here on CP, to ask for help. Leave the post up, it’s obviously needed and we’re here to help.

What I’d ask is that the Amazon wishlist be removed from the post. I’d feel more comfortable having you provide it via PM, which would be totally acceptable.

To me, it’s like posting the contents of a bomb or SS gift or similar. I have no problem with Paul asking for help from his brothers here on CP.

You’ve been here a long time John and you’re one of the biggest hearted guys around. I remember the raffle that you and Bill ran, for Brian back in the day. Huge hearts are here on CP, but I think we can still accomplish what Paul and his wife needs, without anything being public.

CP helps it’s own, but let’s keep the specifics in private.

Paul, I kinda sorta see what Brandon is saying. 😂

But, that’s the difference about this place. We can have differing opinions while still respect each other. Nothing like other places where you’re absolutely destroyed if your opinion/beliefs are different than others.
Anyways, I think that ship has already sailed and you might want to reach out to guys like Chester to see what they got since the list is not updating. Then see if you can do it for your wife on Amazon to prevent people from buying duplicates.

I can once I get Emma's log in. Unfortunately, she's having a rough day hasn't been table to talk or text much. If everyone wants to hold off on buying anything else to avoid duplicate purchases, we can until I get the list updated.

Thank you your patience in this and especially thank you to everyone who has made purchases. It will truly make her day better.

I’m not trying to be a jerk….which are famous words that usually preface someone being a jerk.

The quote above is to indicate Paul donating to another person’s charity in the MAW PIF. Paul should not be donating to others’ charities while asking for charity from CP.

I mean no disrespect, Paul, I understand you’ve been through some rough times lately, but this thread is only ok if you’re also trying to clear out your wife’s wish list as fast as you can, but need a little extra help. Donating to others’ charities indicate to me you have money to spend that’s not going toward your wife.

I wish a speedy recovery to Miss Emmie.

I understand your concern. The donation was a small amount and just my way of paying it forward to all those who have helped me recently. It wasn't intended to look shady or having any other kind of negative outlook. Just my way of saying thanks to those have helped me recently.

I disagree, respectively.

Obviously he has been through quite a bit and is still going through it. I don't see the issue in donating while also asking for help. We don't know his financial circumstances, but we do know what has happened and that he is an active and participating member in CP. He has been on multiple VHerfs, attributed to the community, and is in daily contact with multiple CP members. I think we can give him the benefit of the doubt here.

Also, he provided a donation. That could be a $400 donation, or a $5 donation. Just saying, it is not like we are donating to a member who hasn't posted in 3 years or recently joined.
 
I 100% understand the concern, Gavin -- I know we've seen similar situations here in the past, though in that context the issue was cigar purchases rather than charity donations. If Paul was posting WTBs, buying into new splits, or showing off his new box of (maybe not fake) CCs, I'd be right there with you. However, I think that sometimes paying it forward is the only way to pay it back, as it were, with so much generosity flowing like water around this place.
