Sometimes, but not always. Winter warmer is a specific style of beer that is a winter beer, but not every winter beer is a winter warmer. Personally, I like Troegs Mad Elf, Victory Old Ho (RIP), Great Lakes Blackout, Sierra Celebration, Brooklyn Chocolate Stout, Founders Backwoods Bastard...

John Palmer admits his recipes aren't great, but this is pretty good technically on how to brew.
If you let me know which style you want to do, I just got Brewing Classic Styles and it has 80 extract recipes in it and I can give you one. They're all beginner based pretty much, but all award winning recipes.

Go with that...seems like it might be close enough. I'll be interested to see if people have can bias against the Maui or not.
Haha, the fact that BT comes in 750's has always puzzled me. As much as I really wanted to hate it because of the hype....I couldn't. Damn you Patrick Rue!
I would say do any APA, ESB, Irish Red depending on which style you like best. Something in the 5% ABV range that you can use a dry neutral yeast like Nottingham or US-05 with. Congrats on making a great decision.

Heh, I like most of the lists. Definitely more local then expected although I don't know how much far and away stuff people get because NJ gets so much stuff from everywhere.
There was an old CP thread here that listed a whole bunch of styles and everyone's favorites. http://www.cigarpass.com/forumsipb/index.php?showtopic=55891
I really wanted to revisit this and see how what everyone liked now and how (if any) had changed.
