Unhappy Thread

That was probably it.

Seriously though, pulled it out of the ziplock it came in and looked like that. Might have happened in transit, but who knows.

Wait, that wasn’t from me, was it? I don’t remember sending a PL.

Drop it???? Looks like he ran over the dang thing. Unless of course it was dropped from the Empire State Building, and hit the building all the way down. Just sayin'!

Had it in his pocket during a snow boarding accident.

I had a complete new roof installed late last fall. All went well except for 50+/- nail pops on my second floor. I called the guy a couple weeks ago to come fix them, and I'm not completely satisfied with the results. He "tapped" a number of them back in, and painted over them. Well, they're BAAAACCCCKKKKK! And today, after a good rain, my entry door has water leaking though it. It's coming from the top of the jam and going down the side. Some inside, some outside. No water above it so it has to be a weak spot in the roof.

The roofing guy came by and was perplexed. He took pic sand said he'd call me in the morning. No pun intended, but when it rains it pours! The hits just keep on coming.

That sux Floyd. :(

Thought I had a sinus infection and went to doc to get meds. They didn’t check for COVID (thought they would but guess not a thing anymore). Did at home test, positive. Yay. Went back for a pcr at the doc..got results, still positive. What wonderful timing (sarcasm).

So far no one I’ve been around that has tested has been positive. And I still have the sinus thing because I can’t go back to work until I’m over “symptoms” without meds. Funny thing is that other than drainage/sinus pressure I have no other symptoms. Never had any. So it’s probably a sinus thing and the other was asymptomatic? Guess I had a good run.

Stay vigilant.

Sorry to hear this Floyd. There is nothing worse than the helpless feeling of water leaking into your house.

Good luck brother! Can insurance do anything for you?

I would call a well qualified home inspector to get their professional opinion on what is causing the current issues so soon after the completed project - you might need the report for insurance or future lawsuit , if it can't be mediated to your satisfaction. ( Do you agree @jfields ?)

Other local roofing companies will most likely not want to get involved in assessing another company's screw ups in a situation like this.

Also - trust no opinion if the person giving it to you has NOT gotten up on the roof to check it out!

It was an insurance job originally. I dropped Liberty Mutual after that due to a spike in my rates. I found another company that was less than half what LM wanted, for sane coverage. Waiting for the roofing company to call with next step. All I can say is it has to be roof/rain issues. No other water is in that area. I never had a problem before this down pour. We’ll see.

I know I don’t know you guys very well but if you are the praying types I could use some prayers. We need to put our 12 year old Pug down today. He is the best dog ever and we love him so much it’s just hard. He got diabetes about a year ago and it’s been a downhill battle since. He’s been in a wheel chair for a long time too. Man we love him. View attachment 54231

That is the shit part of having a dog that you love because he is family. We had to do that four times and it doesn't get easier.

Absolutely! Roofing contractors rarely like to speak ill of another one even though it may be their competition. If it comes down to it, make sure the home inspector is licensed or certified depending what the requirements are in your state. You want to make sure he has the proper credentials should he have to testify as an expert witness in court. I’ve had to do that before and that’s the first thing that defense lawyer tried to pick a part when I testified. Up until 2017 licensure was voluntary in Virginia, and he seemed shocked to find I was.

Most people would think “What does nail pops have to do with having had my shingles replaced?” If it was not an issue before the roof was replaced, it’s usually due to excessive heat buildup in the attic space. I have had three clients hire me for the very same issue in the past and two times I found the issue to be due to the same problem. When the roofing contractor tore off the old shingles and installed a new underlayment, or ice/moisture barrier, they forgot to open it up above the ridge vent opening and no cooling convection airflow could take place. That will also kill shingles prematurely. The other one turned out to be this newfangled ridge vent the contractor installed that was really low profile with this dense fiber material to keep wasp out. It just wasn’t allowing enough air flow.

What kind of ventilation do you have Floyd @SKYDIVNEKD Soffit & Ridge, Gable, Thermostatically Controlled Fan? I can’t speak for the leak. Is there a roof valley above the area, or a furnace flue?

I love HUK next level fishing shorts for work in the summer. Durable, they breathe, dry quickly, and have cargo pockets. I ordered four pair online, since I can’t seem to find them locally. Who knew they came in a 7 inch length as well as the 10.5 I normally get. I feel like a 70’s tennis pro in these short shorts. 😳

You must be hip, short shorts are back. All the kids on the basketball team here roll up their shorts because they don't like them long at all. Weirdos

I was going to ask the same thing. Are there also any gutters around the front door? Did they mess up any flashing/drip edge?
