Today's Smoke

Started the day with a 601 Blue Toro. One of Pepin's milder blends but very tasty.

Macanudo 1968 churchill. A good, medium-full, fairly strong smoke.

A bit pricey for what it delivers but solid nonetheless.

I was wondering what to pick as today's first smoke....I guess I'll take another run at the Mac '68.

Thanks for the reminder Wilkey, hope this one will be better than my first

Heading out to the deck now

A nice devils weed robusto with my coffee this morning.

Then, feeling decadent, due to a 4 day weekend, and determined to have a great cigar day, a
Padron 1964 Diplomatico while working in the yard.

Tonight. I'm sticking my hand, eyes closed, into my better smokes, smoke now, humidor and smoke whatever I pull out. :D

Nice yard gar!

Yesterday, smoked a Hatuey Special Reserve torpedo. Very mild until the last third when a more fulfilling body kicked in. Followed up with a Punch Black Prince which I found to be tasty but straightforward tobacco flavors with little complexity. Kind of a weird cigar day.

Today? Nothing. Chores and going fishing so no time. Everybody have a great Labor Day weekend.

Padron 2000 Maduro
RASS '06
Cabaiguan Guapo
Liga Privada #9
Monte #4

Not sure what is up for today yet.

Padron 64 while watching the sunset over Lake Erie from my deck at camp.

I just came in from an Illusione 88 Robust on the deck on this unusually warm September day (86*F ??? ).

It was alright, but I'm not sold on these cigars. I've smoked about 5 examples of varying size and they've all been the same (consistency is good). I know a lot of people like them, so I guess that's more for them.

I just finished a DPG lancero, really good smoke. I have not been a big fan of the DPG blues, but these hit the spot.

I have been trying to smoke a CAO America Potomac  I have to say it is the worst CAO i have ever had. I do like their lines a lot i.e. Italia and Brazilia are actually real nice, however this is not at all nice. I did smoke all of it to a 1" nub only because i wanted to experiance to whole cigar before letting it die a slow horrible death on it's own. The dry draw felt a bit tight and i had a feeling that i was going to have issues with this one from the start(the draw was tight and hard all the way through). It did burn even all the way down even though the draw was a a bit hard. As far as taste it was kinda bland to me with hints of cardboard, it also became a bit harsh and bitter about half way down the 'gar and it stayed till the end. Oh, well i guess i will just have to have a Tat Black to make up for it now

Last night a Rocky Patel Edge maduro, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy to big a smoke for this newbie! I now know the difference between crap and something to bold for me. Followed it up with a CAO brazilia that was also a bit strong for me I think. Either that or I was still overwhelmed from the RP I couldn't finish.
Today I had a "Comacho" I think it was part of the last order from Thompson (I know, learned the lesson). Anyway it wasn't bad but then again I'm new so what do I know. It was much milder and easier for me to smoke though.

I've got another CAO America for you if you want it. It's a little "light" on flavor but what the hell it's worth a try right? I'll take that Brazillia off you if you want, i like the spice in that one.

Spelling sucks tonight, sorry.

Gurkha Ancient Warrior(CI version-7.5 x 54rg) bought May 2006 so it was ready to smoke and much more enjoyable as a result. Not a big Gurkha fan but I enjoyed this cigar.

Had a wonderful extended weekend, full of smokes. Had a Pepin Serie JJ, Cuban Classic, Blue Label, and El Centurrion on Sunday, and a Vegas Robaina Famosos ('07), Trinidad Ingenios EL 2007, and a BBF ('98) on Monday. Exceptional weekend!
