Golden Ticket (Spooky Ticket)

I don't think that's quite right. Some states require a "no purchase necessary" option for sweepstakes so it's not considered an illegal lottery. Since the rules for this contest weren't clearly stated somewhere and hence didn't include "void where prohibited", the contest could be in violation of state and federal laws.

Sucks to be canceled and for those in it, but the guy calling it out was right.

See this document for reference on sweepstakes: click me

Another way to screw the goose Petey. FFS, get it together next year. Head over heels man, head over heels.

So can I have the Ducati?

I promise to take really good care of it...

...and I puh-promise not to wear my assless chaps...

An interesting read. Still sucks for those that found the spooky tickets though that the contest was canceled. Thanks for the link JHolmes.

Heck yeah it is. That generated quite the "pull" to buy the boxes. What a joke.

It's true. Pete had asked us to keep it private though snce it was a PR disaster. Since your friend broke the news first, i feel comfortable confirming it. Pete feels really bad about it though and I don't thinkbit fair to blame him.

To whoever the scam artist douchebag is, he better stay anonymous.....

In the ECCJ's Winter Edition, there is an article titled "Buy and Invest?" Found within this article is a direct reference to Pete Johnson and Tatuaje's marketing practices. A small excerpt from the article:

Limited vitolas, whether you know they will be at the time or not, tend to grow in value. The final year that a particular vitola, or more so a brand, is produced is a great time purchase for investment. This is especially true if smokers will miss cigars. More common than discontinuations, you will find cigar makers producing small quantities of a particular cigars with special branding. In the US, Pete Johnson at Tatuaje does this with special collections of unique blends/vitolas in innovative and clever packaging. Not only do these cigars sell quickly, they achieve prices much higher than retail on the secondary market....

What is Truly Limited?

...As has been seen with the "Monster Series" from Tatuaje, scarcity, attractive packaging and positive reviews tend to bring collectors and other secondary market attention (71).

------------------------

Marketing campaigns that set high expectations also open the door for amplified disappointment. Will the downside for Tatuaje be aggravated because the cigar market is niche? I'm interested to see the rest of this episode play out.

Wow. They seem to think they have brokered world peace over at that site. Sad.

The people at that site must be sad. They spend their days looking for ways to force their way into sweepstakes instead of looking for jobs IMO.

While they do look like losers they are correct. I would think PJ would have better law advice that would have avoided this altogether, not very business savvy.

As messed up as this is for everyone involved, including Tatuaje, I'd have to agree with DePasta. So can we now find out from our OP where he found his ticket? Now that the whole thing's been cancelled?

I for one found that "Pete is just a regular guy" defense a little comical. And, yeah, those guys are kind of killjoys...

Now the other question is...do the folks who bought cigars have a reason for action since the promise of a drawing for the motorcycle was never fulfilled.

He does look like a pervert/child molester/peeping tom doesn't he? :sign:
